BEVAN COURT: See SCHOOL STREET FLATS: south side of School Street.
Named after: Aneurin Bevan: Welsh Lab Party MP. Minister for Health 1945-51.
BEWICK STREET: Built in or before 1881 and demolished in the 1970s. Today it is an unnamed side road leading off Argyle Street to Cuthbert Street.
In 1850, this was grass land named ‘Well Closes’, occupied by John Redhead, and leased from landowner Cuthbert Ellison.
Named after: Thomas Bewick (1753 – 1828) English engrave.
