Ellison Hall: originally built 1650s - rebuilt 1790s.
In 1850, the part of Canning Street, between Derby Crescent, and Hall Road, was grassland, named ‘Paddock’; the east side of Hall Road, was woodland, both occupied by Matthew Laws, and both leased from landowner Cuthbert Ellison.
