The following information is from the book, The Streets of Hebburn - if you can help update or correct it, please let me know, thank you:
CAVALIER VIEW: Hebburn Quay.
Cavalier View is a new road, which is entered via Wagonway Road, directly opposite Caledonian Street, and heads North West to the former shipyard, passing Hazelmoor on its left.
In 1850, this was grass land, known as The Green, occupied by John Redhead, and leased from landowner Cuthbert Ellison.
Named after: HMS Cavalier D73/ (R73) Britain's Last World War II Destroyer.
In 1987, she moved to Hebburn where she was to be part of a new museum celebrating Tyneside's long shipbuilding history and the area's strong naval association. Alas, the plans were never realised and HMS Cavalier was left to languish in a lonely, derelict dry-dock.
