Re: Travelling through France
We used to go to friends' static caravan on Med near Perpignan. My wife doesn't drive, but at least we weren't towing a caravan and I used to do Calais to the Med in a day, with a few breaks en route. Even after about seven years, staying 3 months each time, my French is still just about at my GCE(failed) standard. I took to driving on the right like a duck to water, but getting used to the UK was trickier! On our last visit we discovered a narrow road that scared Anne witless. Later discovered it was called a balcony road and found a video on You-tube about it called Gorges de Galamus. It was a once in a lifetime experience. If I had known what it was like I would never have driven on it. We have found a little farm site in Lincolnshire that we go to, now that I don't feel up to the long drive on the autoroutes. 5 hours on our roads is about my limit now. I enjoy reading about your trips, Allan; they bring back memories.
