Last week his eldest stepson came across the attached postcard:-
which he wrote just before Dunkirk and was never posted. The postcard was to my parents and reads:-

Dear Pat & Julia, Just a card to let you know I am keeping alright. How is all the family keeping. Well by I get home I will be ableto speak French that is if I don't get home for some 5 or 6 years. But I get on alright here trust me. Well I will write later if I can think of something to write about. So cheerio for now from your loving brother Tommie.
The postcard never got posted because of Dunkirk and has just recently surfaced among some of his old army clothes.
He was one of the lucky one who got home.
