Worked at wEARMOUTH in student days. The Harvey and SeaCoal where the drifted down deepest seams at 2000 ft with Bottom Maudlin coming close behind and 3 miles out to sea.
Foraki when test drilling off shore for the exploration programme of the coastal mines found deeper seams that were reckoned to merge in to a 6ft seam.The days of King Coal many an hour spent trudgung to those seams/ faces when working on the Safety staff.
