The old set of four had done 36,500 miles. All still had 4mm of tread. However one had started to go out of shape and causing a vibration on to O/S front ( the short drive shaft side)
I put it to spare and a front to back job when we got to the south of France in Sept.
Once that was done car vastly better but just a hint of the tyre mileage under braking but still a harsher and nosier ride. (Tyre hardening maybe) when compared with new.
The tyre dealer was surprised that I had got that amount of mileage out of the tyres and even more so when I told them that almost half of the mileage was done towing a caravan.
“You must have a very light foot” “Well that’s debatable according to Ann.”.
The tyres were Hankook 235 / 60 r18 107v and replaced with the same. Avon would have been a similar cost but wear rate would have been far higher as they are a softer compound.
If it had been just coming into summer I may have waited a few months before changing but there is snow forecast before Xmas. But very happy with the change over.
