Re: Doctors waiting lists
On average GPs are in touch with 40 patients a day, with many saying 60 is a closer and more dangerous figure. This can be in surgery, on home visits, which they do still do, or by telephone. Some services, such as a mental health assessment for compulsory or voluntary admission to hospital, can take several hours. An eleven hour day is not unusual. I think the idea of piece work would be welcomed, until they drop of course. We’d better appreciate them while we still have them.
