Stan, it is obvious that you are unaware of the serious shortage of teapot lid knobs in China, the major producer of such items. This has come about by the latest fad in that country of wearing these knobs as ear decorations. The problem has been exacerbated by the practice of smuggling these knobs out of factories producing them causing shortages. Expensive versions are at a premium and there is now competition to be seen wearing more expensive pieces...hobknobbing.
Owing to a world shortage, teapot manufacturing companies in China are desperate to import teapot lid knobs from any part of the world. They are fetching such high prices that companies like Morrisons have given up employing 'undercover' knob guards to stem the growing theft. This is why tea is now being served in a number of stores with pot lids missing. This is not a very 'cosy' situation but it has made it much easier to read your fortune....I 'leave' it there.
