Thank you for uploading this film. What a great preview into a time before I was born.
And thanks once again to the Police for an excellent piece of local history.
I suppose itís so busy everywhere because itís market day.
I can well understand why this is a film to highlight the dangers of crossing busy roads without taking due care and attention - some pedestrians donít seem to have any road sense at all, and shockingly, several were inches from being run overÖ donít forget, the cameraman is in a large, fast-moving vehicle.
Also, note the lack of road markings. Apparently, when there were less road markings there were less vehicular accidents - too many road markings cause distractions I hear.
My dad was a bus driver for a time, and I wonder if heís driving one of these buses. He told me that some buses used to vibrate violently: the whole steering column and gear stick, etc., and after coming off one of them, it took a while to stop shaking.
And by the way, was that our own Alan La Ruste driving that red flat-bed lorry? It looks like one if his.
Cheers and thank you once again for uploading this interesting film,
