If the idea were to fall into the hands of an enthusiastic journalist then it just have a chance. It could be kicked off by a programme that looks back into the history of Andrew Leslie and his shipyard which would be interesting enough in its own right.
If I lived up there I might have been tempted to start the ball rolling myself but we have serious problems here just now. We were called to the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, yesterday where our daughters partner is now critically ill. You might remember that I mentioned a few years ago that he fell out of a window and suffered serious brain injuries. He has been more or less in a semi coma since then. All we can do now is sit by the phone and wait.
In the meantime it would be good to hear any other ideas for how a search for the fountain could be kick started. It is a beautiful and important treasure in the history of the town and something of a rarity with regard to the preservation of its past endeavours. On second thoughts, I might be placing far too much importance on these things. What do you all think about this? Say what you like...I won't be offended.
