Billy, I’m glad that you brought this up, because any photographs you (or any other regular) might have taken near to the time of the disappearance of the fountain might hold vital clues we need.
Billy, the newspaper articles informed us that Hawthorn Leslie was open and accessible to vandals – if this was so, why would any scrap man waste his time with a small piece of scrap like the fountain, when there was literally tons of scrap metal available to them on the property? This is what leads us to believe that the fountain was not taken for scrap, but taken to be saved.
