A couple of generations and look how well off we are now. We take for granted things that were not available even as recently as when I was a child. Landline telephones were rare, mobiles non-existent and even electric lighting was only just coming into use. TVs were new fangled when I was at the Grammar school and home computers were just making an appearance in the 1960s.
As Harold MacMillan said "You've never had it so good." And still people complain about not being able to afford things that didn't exist in the "good old days"
Just imagine this message board having to rely on word of mouth or posted letters.
