I think that we called it 'vaults' and all you needed was space on the ground, a lump of chalk and a broom shank or similar.
First we drew a very large square which was in turn divided up into more squares about 18" x 18" (500x500mm). Then the squares were randomly numbered 1 to 12 or more and sometimes well apart.
Then we took turns to vault from square to square, starting at number 1 by using the broom stick moving through 2, 3' 4 and so on. We always ensured that some consecutive numbers were placed well apart to make it difficult. Then to make it harder, you could try doing it with one foot off the ground so that it became a hopping vault.
The only other thing that came in handy was Elastoplast to treat scraped elbows and knees.
