It was built in 1838 and has 164 steps to the top. Listed as Grade 1 the statue was made by Edward Hodge Bailey in London and brought here on a ship named the Halcyon. It was hit by a bolt of lightning and it stood beheaded from 1941 and 1948. As for Grey himself,he was fed up with normal tea so he put some Bergamot oil in it and it is now known as Earl Grey tea!
