More Newcastle facts - cholera..

I'm 21 yrs, cholera wiped out 2,251 people in Newcastle. The town had no water treatment and was fed by a spring to hand pumps in the street known as "pants". The handles were removed in Broad St and it stopped the cholera. The death figures I have are 1852-306,1848-412,1853-1533,1857-1. It was a killer,rated next to the black death and that's another story that nearly ended Newcastle...
