Re: More Newcastle facts - cholera..
I think it's got to be Broad Chare, it was first mentioned in 1390 also places like Low Friar Street were originally called Chares, but as Chare is a North Eastern term its possible that street was inserted into a report that was to be seen nationally. The British History online website has a very good document from 1827 called the present state of Newcastle, its well worth a look at.
