Flooding and barriers.
Posted by Allan Campbell on February 24, 2020, 2:09 pm
About 300 yards from us is a house that the ground floor is below road level about 5 ft. Three years ago it flooded due to the amount of water coming down half a mile of road from A59.
The road gullies block up with debris and gravel. The owners have now fitted two flood barriers across 2 gates which solve the problem of flooding. These gates are easily demountable.
In the areas down south etc.that are prone to flooding these barriers/ gates would be a great help across entrance doors etc., OK ventilator bricks and the house walls would need waterproofing to keep water out but river flood defences can no longer be relied on.
So property owners are now going to have to do their own thing regretfully.
