It was the Harold Cummings Orchestra or sometimes The Harry Vasey Band etc. Depending on the venue or occasion it ranged in sizes from being a quartet to a full orchestra
They played all around the NE principally Dad's Friday Night Dance at Hebburn and the Mecahics in Jarrow but lots at the Assembly Rooms in Newcastle and The Miners Welfare in Wallsend. The Band was out somewhere 7 nights a week.
Harry Lamberton, Played Drums. Jimmy Joseph the Sax. Alf Gibson did play occasionally.The line- ups were variable There were always a group of musicians who were available for gigs. Alf I recall was behind having the fancy music stands made that were so popular in the 50's and bore the legend HC.
