As JR Holland works to get fresh produce to under strain public services amid the coronavirus pandemic, their yard on Team Valley Trading Estate, Gateshead, was struck by thieves on Sunday night.Owner John Holland said he was “absolutely mortified” to learn about the break-in.It comes as the business tries to keep hospitals, schools and other businesses in a supply of fresh food as the number of UK coronavirus cases swells and the country faces the prospect of a lockdown.
Mr Holland said: “You could almost live with the theft but it’s the damage to the vehicles, which makes them unserviceable when there’s people going without.
“At this moment in time the demand is colossal for hospitals and schools.
