I pretty much agree re availability but it isn't just palliative care that is covered although that seems easier to get.
First of all, unfortunately, most people don't know about it.
Secondly, the process is long and complicated and depends on a series of tick-boxes being completed by an assessor.
Then it pays to have someone on your side who understands the system.
Finally one has to be prepared to fight for it if a tick box is in dispute.
Fortunately, I knew about it, my business experience was very helpful and above all I was well advised by a lady who used to be an assessor inside the NHS! Her help saved me a fortune.
But I fear for many less-skilled by age or whatever. I do think that that care should be easier to get. Of course, the cost of senior care is a thorny issue overall......it is going to have to be tackled at some stage but the list of things to tackle is becoming longer by the day.
