Saw it on TV last night what a great film brought lots of memories of little old Hebburn, how things have changed in 50 years, what a great act Michael Cain was in playing CARTER,although I don't think life was as Ruthless on Tynside as was shown in the film,1971 great ERA the QUAY is no more, no Ferry landing, no progressive club, no betting shop,it did show what Tyneside could do and that was to show in the film in one of the scenes next to wallsend ferry landing a huge tanker being fitted out ESSO? that's what we did best back then, building ships o I nearly forgot,in the quay we do still have the HEDLEY school still standing. one or two locals taking part Paddy doil, seen putting a bet on in hales betting shop also the blind manAs I said a great film seen it may be 4 times can anyone beat that? happy days tb,
