Correct form for addresses in Hebburn over the years
Posted by Allan Campbell on May 23, 2020, 7:29 am
What were the correct addresses for the following.
In 1886 27 Hood Street, Hebburn Quay, Hebburn on Tyne, Durham or just 27 Hood Street, Hebburn on Tyne, Durham.
In 1914 21 Aln Street, Hebburn Newtown, Hebburn on Tyne, Durham.
I assume that the use of Colliery, Quay and Newtown would be dropped in later years.
Was it just Hebburn or Hebburn on Tyne. Was it Durham then County Durham or Co. Durham and is it now Tyne & Wear.
I can look at Census returns but they may not be correct.
