My dad's brothers two were miners and one of them took me down the staft at Wardley pit when I was aged twelve and I vowed I would not work there, but equally the heating ducts on one of the ships were little more than eighteen inches right on the bottom.
It was a bit like being a rat in a small sewer.
The mine in shields West of used to be miles out under the sea.
