When I was a young lad late 40s early 1950s me and my mates often came along to the derelict Copper works and also those Staithes. The latest craze then was saving matchbox labels like people saved Foreign stamps. We often got empty ones off the Foreign sailors. Board regular Alan La Ruste worked at the Staithes in later years.
Across from the staithes was Walker Naval Yard.
