Shipyard buzzers hooted loud, pulling in the mighty crowd. Dawn till dusk each mighty crane, every man sheer sweat and strain. Once the world knew of this place, better life and no disgrace. Colliers, tankers streamers too once sailed in with foreign crew, plenty work for you and me, nothing now for us to see.
But fom these banks I'll never roam, all my life they've been my home.
Choked up tearfull this I tell, river Tyne I knew thee well...
