Re: Archaeological digs
Stan, there is a place like that which I spent most of my childhood playing on. In the 1940/50s there was still the traces of a very large brickworks. It was centred on an area between the feature known as Quality Row, Hebburn Colliery, and the river. Up to only a few years ago, a building identified as possibly the old pug mill was still standing. I am sure that Norman has one or two photos of this structure in his Album.
