Re: Archaeological digs
Don, there were five brickworks in Hebburn and st. Aloysius Church was built using five different types all from Hebburn. It's something I discovered when I researched the church a few years back. Norman does have photographs of the brickworks and pug Mill was one of them. It may interest you to know that when Hebburn Quay was being built the brickworks were supplying 10000 bricks per week which caused a lot of misshapen and irregular sized bricks which can be seen on the gable end of st. Aloysius Church.
