Re: Archaeological digs/Brickworks
Peter, the brickworks near Billy Hebson's Farm was. Jones Bros who bought it in 1911 as it was known as Pelaw Terracotta Works. The finest example of their bricks can be seen on the Baltic Mill in Gateshead. When the mill was converted we had the scour the country for some replacements and to get the exact shade they had to be especially made. When Hebburn was being built Jones Brothers turned out 10000 per week to match the five brickworks in Hebburn.
