Re: Those who stood with us in 1940.
I had my very first ATC flight experience from RAF Usworth in an Avro Anson. Can't remember the date but probably about 1954/55. I do remember that the pilot had only one leg and we flew up the Northumbrian coast at very low level. I was sat in the co pilot seat when he asked 'Is that Dunstonborough Castle up there?'.....
At the time I didn't feel scared....as I should have been, because we were really scimming the waves.
