Re: Havelock St in Felling question
I am not absolutely certain but I think Havelock Street was subject to an aeroplane crash in the early part of the 20th century. The plane had made a successful emergency landing on a cleared piece of land roughly behind where the New Greyhound pub is now. The next day the pilot tried to take off but crashed in the street just a few yards away. Many years later, a second air crash occurred in Felling. This was during WW2 when an RAF plane hit a balloon wire and came down just behind the high street hitting a derelict cinema. The pilot was killed.
I am more certain that the street met its end during the 1970s
