Another Hebburn hero who ran a shop in Hebburn

When I was a little lad living in 14 Lyon St on the block between Winnie Gallagher's Paper shop and Smiths Printers, I often went into Gambles Paper Shop on Argyle st just over the road from Flemings the Chemists on Ellison St- Argyle St junction. No one knew this little man had fought in WW1, because those generations never boasted and just did their service and came home to try and live a normal life.
