St Clare's Hospice will never reopen and the replacement will be in Shields.
WHY Not Jarrow ?
This snub to Jarrow spurred me on to ask this question.
Would it be possible for Jarrow & Hebburn to go back back to the way we were before the South Shields Dictators took over.
Shields take 70% of all our Council Taxes, the 30% left is split between Jarrow, Boldon & Hebburn.
We make the money and they spend it.
Not long ago South Tyneside Local Authority (thats us aswell) were awarded millions from the Lottery and Shields spent it on Parks. They also have more Councillors than Jarrow and Hebburn so will always win when votes are taken.
In the 1950s Hebburn UDC and Jarrow UDC built new housing estates and smokeless zones. As I've said before, Shields was still full of coal fired 1800s Housing, but when we became South Tynside Authority, they benefitted with our help.
We managed quite well then and could do again if it was possible to split.
