The regulars have given some very helpful feedback on this for Don.
John, I only received text from the introduction to Don’s book, so didn’t have any photographs to work with, though Don said in another post, that Libre Office, which Brian, Ricky, and Dexy mentioned, and the Converter, that Brian, Ricky, and Bill Wallace mentioned, all worked to retrieve the original text, though, without any photographs or map images attached.
Don might be in luck, as he might be able to place the photographs and map images automatically into the squares that he mentioned.
Don told us that instead of the picture appearing in his document, that instead, squares appeared where the images used to be. I have a feeling that if he right-clicks on one of these squares, a list of commands might appear, and one of them might ask, ‘Do you want to restore this image?’ If Don clicks ‘yes’, I think a pop-up box will then ask where to retrieve the image from, and this might have to be from a folder with the same name as the original folder – maybe Don’s present folder has the same name as the original folder, if not, all the photographs could be placed into a new folder with the file that contains the story and this way, Don might be able to replace the squares with images automatically. Ricky, Dexy, or even our friend Ken Wood from the Felling might know more about this.
