Bruce Why dont you just Google your old printer or ask for drivers for it and update.
Try "Drivers for make and model number"
See if you can get it running. Its not unknow for drivers to be lost during OS system updates etc.,or could have delete them yourself in error.
Your new printer should have instructions with it and maybe a CD with its software of instructions where to download them.
My new Cannon printer did.
