I wonder if there is an error as Tharsis did not have a rail line into it.
Looking at the Godfrey Walker & Hebburn map 1895, 2 edition 1897. It shows Tennant’ Works near Prince Consort Road and the Tyne Works ( Sulphur & Copper ) to the South of it. Where Reyrolle’s had a road under the railway between the Newtown Works and the Bottom end as Dad called it. Newtown Club would have been close to the entrance.
Part maps attached. So why was Hebburn Tharsis Works misnamed on the Map ?
The Willington Quay Tharsis could be a mapmakers error ?
