Re: Weather around Hebburn
G/day Philip, having emigrated to Aussie in 1961 at the age of 21 having spent my childhood years in little old Hebburn,i landed in Sydney,in the month of September sort of the beginning of your summer so I was introduced to hot weather, going from our summer to your summer was an experience on top of that I chose Bondi Junction a mile from Bondi beach.Up to then I new only South Shields beach where you could sunbathe all day,my first venture on to the beach at Bondi was short the sand was just like walking on hot cinders so I learnt a lesson must wear flip flops. The comparison I would like to make between the north of England or indeed the British isles and a huge country like Australia that both countries have variable climates ,how many folk know that Aussie have snow fields.I remember in about 1962 while traveling on a double decker on the top deck going to work in Sydney,in the middle of summer when a noise like thunder and out of the blue snowballs came crashing down on to the roof of the bus it was a bit scareyThese balls caursed millions of pounds of damage to cars etc.i loved Australia Philip, loved the people the climate,i have been back to my home England not that far from Veras patch which is in a beutifull part of the north for many many years. When I see programmes on tv from Down Under they bring back happy mems maybe one day you visit us Geordies and see for self how proud we are with our lot and would make sure that you got a Geordie welcome make sure though that it is in our summer. what I did learn was when you are hot its hard to keep cool, when you are cold just rap up like Vera. ps Veras next series is next summer, she is going to have a operation after her operation is getting fitted with a waist coat and getting rid of her MAC.
