The band started off as the Chevrolets and ended up as Shorty and them with shorty being Pat Diamond. The line up was nearly always Peter Kirtle Pat Diamond, Brian Dunlop Drums and Brian?Rowan. The bass man line-up changed a lot and included Jimmy Stokoe, Jimmy Blake and Paul(speedy) Simms from Beaumont terrace in Jarrow. Eddy Foy was their manager. Pat packed in mainly because of an illness which left him very ill in Germany. They practiced in St Johns church in Hebburn before it was knocked down. Out of interest, Kirtley played a Burns Trisonic, Rowan played a Hofner blond President and the bass men played Burns bass guitars.Pat also played clavioline as well as singing! Great band in their days. Kirtley went on to play trumpet for the Alan Price Set from his home at 89 York Ave . His guitar teacher was Ian Cairns of then 100 Collimgwood St and paid 3/- per hour same as me.Pat worked in the Pyro around 1970 and it was the last time I spoke to him. In the group he was called" race horse ankles" because of his skinny ankles, white socks and sort trouser legs! Great lad in his day. Eddy Foy worked at Frazer's and last known in Sheffield a few years ago.
Now you know Eddy!
