What might the consequences of that ?
Insurance rates would go up as the spread would be reduced.
A lot of jobs would go in Cafes, restaurants, visitor attractions etc. Which need retired people visiting.
As the retirement age goes up you would only have 3-4 years to enjoy your retirement.
Look at the damage that is being done due to this Virus by people not being able to go out.
Are older drivers a danger, well maybe ! but not as much as the young tear aways in their cars.
Last week I had two instances where 1)my car could have had the front end wiped off. I was 15 yards from a T junction on the stalk and a young driver came from the left at speed across my side of the road Cutting the corner. This I think was to get off the A59 before oncoming traffic forced him to stop.
Two days later Ann and I out for a walk on a country road, no footpaths. We were walking down the top of a T junction against oncoming traffic, and a young driver came out the stalk without slowing. He missed me by about a yard. His view would have been obstructed by trees. He knew he was in the wrong as he backed up and spoke to us but did not apologise.
In the Harrogate area there are a Lot of older drivers. So you have to be aware of possible problems. I find that 95% are OK you do have the occasional fuddy duddy but itís rare.
At nearly 78 I no longer drive as well as I used to, due to lack of driving at speed not having to rush to work etc. Also I am aware that if I prang my car I cannot afford to replace it.
So these youngsters I think are just impatient to say least.
