Yes Alan, I do remember the place now. When I lived in Pelaw in the early 1950s, I used the lane behind Ridley Terrace as an escape route on my bike to work at Noble & Lund. I thought it was where the local rag men hired their horses and carts. I used to go straight along to the bottom of Felling High St and then turn right to work, but I had knocked the local copper down (he was on point duty) and I knew he was looking for me. I was 15 years old. Can you imaging it now. A copper on Point Duty, standing on Sunderland Road at the junction with the High Street.
