It’s always a huge loss to us when one of our friends leaves us, especially when they’ve played such an influential part in our daily visits to the message board.
The very well received ‘Geordie Jokes’ that John posted on the board really were the crème de la crème, and brought a light-hearted, upbeat feeling to the board that was always looked forward to – laughter is the best medicine.
John also posted interesting facts and stories, which we also enjoyed – I always came away having learned something.
John had a booklet of his jokes printed, and named it, ‘Jo King’s Book of Geordie Giggles’. Many regulars bought copies, and not a penny went into John’s pocket – what a good man. John’s talented nephew Malc Spour, did the wonderful sketches, which really compliment and enhanced John’s comical stories.
In respect of John, I will now show one of his jokes that he was well loved for on the board:
“Every night, Geordie and his wife are kept awake by the barking of their next door neighbours dog. Finally Geordie has had enough and jumps out of bed.
"Reet," he says. "Ahm ganna teach them next door a lesson." So saying, he runs downstairs and comes back five minutes later.
"Whaat did ye dee?" asks his wife.
"Ah hev put their dog in wor garden," says Geordie. "Let's see how they like it!"
John brought so much sunshine to the board, my deepest condolences to his family.
R.I.P. John.
