Well done George your a man after my own heart. I wish I was as fit as you. You must have been able to avoid injuries in the past.

I envy you living in Bamburgh. Can you come down and put a similar garden drain in for me. It would be a bit shorter but 3’ deep at the start. The existing pipe we think has become blocked with tree roots and gravel. It’s taking all the water from some large fields up above us. I think we will have to increase to existing pipe from 9” to 12” or double up. Ground too wet to have a go as it would be a mud bath.

I do not use my axe, but use an 8 lb splitting maul.

Some of the stuff I’ve been logging I have to split with my chainsaw and then it will split further. It’s I suppose the type of tree that’s being logged. One that I’m cutting up at the moment is a dream to split but have to cut in half just to lift it.

At least you are very aware of remaining to be fit etc. You are among the converted .
