Way back in the early 1970s I heard this record for the first time during what was the worst period of my life but, I won't go into details on the latter subject.

Over the Christmas period we watched a program on Sky Arts channel which was a recorded session (2017) of The Who doing the whole thing live on stage. Needless to say, Roger Daltry and company were no longer able to hit some of the high notes but they did very well.

The rock opera 'Tommy' is not every ones cup of tea with regard to lyrics but I was always fascinated by the music. You can hear the whole LSO version on Youtube in 10 parts (except pt.5 which is blocked in this country for good reason). However, there is no harm in listening to Pt.1 to get the flavour of it all and wonder at the song entitled 'Got a feeling 21s going to be a good year'. They could not possibly have envisaged then, what we now know about this year.
