Re: Punk Safety Pins
Interesting. I was just reading the other day about Ian Dury (of the Blockheads fame) and that article mentioned that he also wore safety pins in the lapel of his jacket before punk rock made it popular. He was much older than most of the other people in the 1977 punk boom. Anyway, Malcolm McLaren had a knack for spotting those sorts of things that might catch on, so itís ver possible that the safety pin thing came from a few different people including your friend!
