On the 1939 Register (taken 29th September), Charles Hardy was living at 1, Blue House Road, Hebburn, occupation: Plumber, heavy work, shipbuilding. Charles is not shown as an ARP.
On the same 1939 Register (taken 29th September), William Fairweather (Works ARP), Laurance Wakinshaw (Factory ARP) and George Milne (ARP Warden, Part Time) - all living at Blue House Road - are all shown as ARP.
Although we know that William Fairweather, Laurance Wakinshaw and George Milne are on the 1939 Register as ARPs, they are not shown on the undated list of ARPs kindly contributed by Maureen Woodley... but why?
I suppose it is possible that your granddad was an ARP sometime between the taking of the 1939 Register, and the end of WWII in 1945.
Cheers,
Barry.
