This picture takes us back to March, 1975, when an armada of fishing boats sealed off the Tyne for 10 days in a nationwide protest over cheap imported fish flooding the market. The protest also closed other North coast ports from Berwick to Hull. It ended when port authorities were awarded a High Court injunction and fishermen were forced to obey an order to allow free movement of traffic in the ports.
