Re: Gordon Welchman: The Henry Ford of Cryptology
Bill, it is an amazing storey of which I knew absolutely nothing. Alan Turing is rightly acknowledged for his work and for the terrible wrong which was done to him. It would appear that without Gordon Welchman's initial input, Turin, Knox and Thompson might never have got started. Although my sympathy is absolutely with Welchman, he did commit himself to secrecy. What a tragedy to end up as he did. He was and still is, a man who gave us so much and yet so little is known about him. Nothing I have written or read detracts from the work of Allan Turin.
