Hello Allan (Campbell),

As far as I know, you're correct - the hard drive from your Samsung will not start up in a different model laptop, because it only contains the hardware drivers for the Samsung's Bios, DVD player, etc.

Though, you could extract the data from your Samsung hard drive, by making it a slave on another PC.
