As the Samsung will not boot up due to maybe a faulty on/off switch or something else I have removed the SSD and put in a Carrier. I now can access my files.
Now the preferred option is to put the SSD into another laptop which I have a choice of 5 old laptops as daughter has switched to all Apple machines.
The first problem would be that which of these old laptops has the same connections Sata or ICE for hard drives.
The whole idea is to keep software that I had downloaded onto the Samsung which now appear to be discontinued.
I did replace the Samsung in August with. Lenovo. It has W10 and Microsoft 365. But it is a pain in the backside as always asking do you want this or that. The main problem is that you have to remember switch off the Microsoft Cloud each time as it appears that you would have to uninstall it otherwise.
As a result I have not loaded my files onto it just connect my various hard drives via USB.
It could well be me having a mental blockage and just not sitting down and sorting it. I have not Been able for some months to sit down and do any Family History researching.
I would rather be out on my bike or working in the garden. Maybe a reaction to Lockdown?
Thanks for your input lads Allan C.
