it seems a lot of bother to me,i was given a hgv class one licence under grandfather rights in 1965 and also a certificate of professional competence,without any driving tests or exams,i was the mechanic for phillips transport gateshead looking after a fleet of twelve bmc seven ton truck,s which had to be driven by me to the ministry test station gosforth, the ministry insisted that i have a hgv class one which enabled me to drive anything, and it cost me absolutly nothing,and no medical, and no test.
